Overview
Players take turns drawing and playing cards to complete Season sets, scoring points at the end of the game.
The game ends in one of two ways: Either a player completes all 4 Season sets, or any one draw pile is emptied. In the latter case, the active player finishes their turn and takes a bonus wild card if there are any left. The remaining players then take one last turn.
Gameplay
The Seasons deck consists of 90 Seasons cards. There are 24 Summer, 24 Autumn, 24 Winter, and 18 Spring cards. This is broken down into 30 Summer-backed, 30 Autumn-backed, 30 Winter-backed cards. There are no Spring-backed cards. Hence, each Season card has a 4 out of 5 chance that the card's Season will match the card back. There is a 1 out of 5 chance that the card's Season will instead be Spring.
On your turn, you must take 2 actions from the 4 actions below. You can take the same action twice.
Actions
- Take 2 face-down Season cards
- Take 1 face-up Season card
- Take 1 wild card (by discarding 2 cards from your hand which are present on your board
- Play cards (by paying cards from your hand)
Animal tokens will provide boosts to various actions or increase the hand size limit.
Take 2 face-down Season cards
Take 2 cards from either face-down draw pile to your hand.
You can take from the same pile or one from each pile.
Squirrel (brown token) power: You can take 3 face-down cards instead of 2.
Take 1 face-up Season card
Take 1 face-up card from either of the 3 columns or the discard pile.
If the last card of any column was taken, the player who took the last card rebuilds it up to 3 cards using the face-down draw piles in any order.
Rabbit (purple token) power: You can take 2 face-up cards instead of 1.
Take 1 wild card
Discard 2 cards from your hand which are present on your board.
Take a wild card from the supply.
You then place that wild card in any Season, in place of a missing value.
You cannot have 2 wild cards in a Season.
In future "Play cards" actions, you can replace a wild card with the corresponding missing value. Then, move the wild card to replace another missing value.
Play cards
Play cards from your hand to your board.
The right corners have to be arranged in ascending order, and vice versa.
All Seasons must be in different corners.
A Season cannot hold multiple cards with the same value.
For each card placed, you must pay a corresponding cost:
- 1 card for each card placed on an empty corner
- 1 card if the card is the highest value in an ascending corner
- 1 card if the card is the lowest value in a descending corner
- 2 cards otherwise
Frog (green token) power: Your Play cards action has a discount of 1, per action.
Animal Tokens
The first player to have 3 cards in any Season takes the corresponding animal token from the supply.
Any player who has equal or higher number of Season cards than the current owner of the animal token takes it from them.
The player who loses the animal token then receives a feather token from the supply (if available).
